PMOSIG Overview
Who Are We?
The PMOSIG is a non-profit, global professional association focused on the project/program management office (PMO) and related disciplines. We provide education, collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and professional development opportunities for a growing global community of over 4,000 members worldwide and are registered as a chartered specific interest group of the Project Management Institute. We focus on helping our members to bridge a critical organizational gap between strategic organizational management and execution management, translating organizational strategies into actionable plans, whether via programs, projects, or portfolio and governance management.
The PMOSIG is not a standards organization or a standards setting body. Rather, our focus is on establishing and communicating best practices in key areas of PMO influence as well as in the areas of strategic management, execution management, organizational governance and organizational change management as they relate to the PMO.
Where Are We?
We are global virtual organization supported by a network of local interest groups focused on the PMO. As a virtual organization, we provide our members with opportunities to collaborate and learn via offerings such as our webinar series, discussion forums, newsletters, and access to relevant PMO research. This access is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week via this website.
Our local presence is supported by a network of local interest groups (LIGs) that enable members within a close geographical proximity to meet, learn, and network within their local communities. By supporting both a diverse global, virtual audience as well as maintaining a local presence, we believe that provide unparalleled value and access to resources of value to our community.
Who Do We Support?
Fundamentally, the PMOSIG believes that we have several key constituencies. Our individual members are the lifeblood of our organization and form the core of our community. However, more broadly, we serve organizations as a whole through our unique PMOTeams model, enabling us to bring value-added services to organizations as well. Additionally, we believe that we have an obligation to serve the broader community at large, realized through several initiatives that are part of our 2009-2010 business plan.
