About the PMOSIG Student Paper Competition
Consistent with our mission to develop insights in areas served by the program management office, the PMOSIG will seek submissions of original papers for consideration for the PMOSIG Student Paper of the Year Award. This award will recognize excellence in student development of original concepts in areas related to the program management office, organizational governance, execution management, and other areas of interest directly related to the PMO.
One winner will be selected annually by a judging panel consisting of academic and practitioner representatives. The student submitting the winning paper will be awarded a one-time $2,500 grant and will be invited to present his or her paper at the PMOSIGās annual conference.
Eligibility
Any individual who is enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in good standing at an accredited institute of higher learning during the period covered by the Call for Papers is eligible. The PMOSIG reserves the right to request proof of enrollment as part of the submission and evaluation process.
Qualifications
Any paper dealing with an original concept and related to the project/program management office, program and/or organizational governance, portfolio management, or applications of project or program management in the program management office environment will be considered. Papers must be written by a single author, supported by an active faculty advisor, and not accepted or published by any other publication.
Selection
Final selection of the winning paper will be made by a panel of experts selected by the PMOSIG. These experts will place emphasis on originality of presented concept(s), applicability to the qualification criteria set forth, practical applications of the concept, and suitability for presentation at the PMO Symposium.
The selected winner will be notified via formal letter and will be expected to present their paper at the PMO Symposium, typically held in November of each year, where a formal recognition of the winner and presentation of the award grant will be made. Award winners will be required to sign a presenter agreement. Reasonable travel expenses associated with attendance at the PMO Symposium will be reimbursed according to the PMO Symposium Speaker Expense Reimbursement Guidelines. The PMI PMOSIG reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to elect not to present an award.
Timing
The submission process and timeline for the 2010 competition will be released in November, 2009. Please check this site for complete details.
